As of September 5th, a total of 25,000 tons of grapes have been processed, comprising 12,000 tons of Rkatsiteli, 7,500 tons of Saperavi, and the remaining volume consisting of grapes from various other varieties.
In the coming days, the storage and preservation of the grape harvest will commence in Gurjaani, Kvareli, and Telavi.
As of today, there are already 300 wine enterprises registered in the vintage coordination headquarters, which will gradually participate in the grape processing process.
In 2024, the projected grape harvest is estimated to be 300,000 tons. Based on the initial forecast, it is expected that over 500 wine enterprises will participate in this year's vintage.
In order to promote the sale of grape harvest by vine-grower farmers and to support the stable development of the wine industry, the Government of Georgia is providing vintage subsidies this year as well. The subsidy will facilitate the sale of harvest for over 20,000 vine-growers and ensure that 500 companies engaged in the vintage can smoothly purchase and process grapes.
It is important to mention that companies that purchase and process a minimum of 100 tons of Rkatsiteli grapes cultivated in the Kakheti region during the 2024 harvest will be eligible for a state subsidy. Additionally, these companies will be required to pay a minimum rate of 1.00 GEL per kilogram of grapes.
In Telavi, the vintage coordination headquarters and the hotline of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (1501) work 24 hours a day.
