With the support of the National Wine Agency, a large-scale tasting of Georgian wine was held in the USA
As part of the TEXSOM sommeliers' conference, a large-scale tasting of Georgian wine was held in Irving, Texas, USA. The National Wine Agency supported and Colangelo & Partners, the agency's contractor, organized the presentation of Georgian wine at this event. Around 70 different Georgian wines were showcased at the tasting.
Experts and professionals from the wine industry attended the event, which significantly raised awareness of Georgian wine among professionals. This has helped to promote and increase worldwide sales of Georgian wine.
During the conference, Master of Wine Lisa Granik presented on the culture and history of Georgian wine.
The TEXSOM Texas Sommelier Conference was established in 2005 with the aim of improving professional standards and education for local sommeliers. Over time, the conference has become one of the most important international events in the wine industry. Since 2014, an annual international wine competition has also been added to the conference, with a jury consisting of wine professionals and sommeliers from around the world.
It is worth noting that recent events supported by the National Wine Agency have significantly increased awareness of Georgian wine in the USA, as evidenced by concrete results. From January to July of this year, Georgia exported up to 710 thousand liters of wine to the USA, which is a 44% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, it is important to highlight that the United States of America is one of the most lucrative markets for Georgian wine, with an average price of $6 USD per liter.
