In Kakheti, the vineyard farmers completely handed over the grapes that were damaged by hail.
The Harvest 2024 coordination headquarters began collecting the grapes damaged by the strong hail and wind in the Kakheti region on the second day of the disaster. The growers handed over 1 kg of damaged grapes for 1.00 GEL.
As of August 30, a total of 1,800 tons of grapes have been processed.
It should be noted that the natural disaster on August 23 damaged various agricultural crops in the Kakheti region, including grapes. Preliminary data suggests that more than 120 hectares of agricultural fields have been affected by hail.
In 2024, the projected grape harvest is 300,000 tons. Over 500 wineries will be involved in grape processing during the harvest. Approximately 200 wineries have already registered with the vintage coordination headquarters to be prepared for processing the grape harvest.
