The 16th International Exhibition of Wine and Alcoholic Beverages, WinExpo Georgia 2024, commenced in Tbilisi today.
The three-day festival is hosted with the support of the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. It is organized by the exhibition center "ExpoGeorgia," with the participation of approximately 200 companies from eight countries around the globe.
The exhibition showcases a wide array of wine and alcoholic beverage producers, ranging from large and medium-sized companies to small wineries. It also features various wine technologies, packaging materials, viticulture and winemaking machinery, nurseries, glassware, accessories, and services.
The event was officially opened by Yuri Nozadze, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Director of Exhibition Center “ExpoGeorgia” Resan Kikawa and Tim Atkin, the British Master of Wine.
‘’Such exhibitions and events provide an ideal platform for promoting wine, allowing interested companies, importers, and entrepreneurs to establish valuable business contacts. The exhibition's scale, the increasing number of participating companies and visitors each year, further solidify its prestigious status and the growing interest in Georgian wine. I would also like to emphasize the rapid development of the wine industry in Georgia. New wine producing companies are emerging, accompanied by the introduction of innovative technologies, resulting in the production of high-quality wine. Furthermore, the export of Georgian wine has been consistently increasing year after year. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has been actively promoting Georgian wine through robust marketing initiatives in international markets, and this support will be sustained in the future’’- Yuri Nozadze stated  at the official opening ceremony of the exhibition.
It is worth noting that within the framework of the exhibition WinExpo Georgia 2024, the 14th international wine competition Georgia International Wine Award will be held - international wine experts will evaluate about 220 wines. The winners will be announced across seven categories, with gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to them. The chairman of the competition jury is Tim Atkin, a renowned wine expert from Great Britain. Mr. Atkin holds the prestigious title of Master of Wine and he is  also  esteemed wine writer, author of publications such as Harper and Decanter and others.
The exhibition will take place from June 7th to 9th at the ExpoGeorgia exhibition center.
