Organized by the National Wine Agency, a tour of American wine professionals was held in Georgia
The USA is a strategic market for Georgian wine, and an active marketing campaign is implemented there with the financial and organizational support of the National Wine Agency.
As part of this campaign, a group of American wine professionals, including sommeliers and a representative from the American company Colangelo & Partners (a contractor of the National Wine Agency), visited companies in Kakheti and Kartli. During their visit, they learned about Georgian wine-making technology and had the opportunity to taste Georgian wines made in the classical and traditional method.
Additionally, a Georgian wine tasting event was held in Tbilisi, where wines from 20 Georgian wine producers were presented.
To further increase the export of Georgian wine, alongside the wine tours, presentation-tastings, and international exhibitions, a media campaign was activated in the USA with the financial and organizational support of the National Wine Agency. An advertising clip was prepared for the American television company CNN, and CBS, one of the highest-rated television broadcasters in the USA, produced an extensive story about Georgian wine titled "Ancient Vines." Image articles have also been published in various print and electronic publications, including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Men's Journal, Imbibe, Wine-Searcher, SOMM TV, Forbes, and Wine Enthusiast.
Since 2022, the company "Colangelo & Partners" has been implementing the marketing campaign for Georgian wine in the USA in cooperation with the National Wine Agency. Colangelo & Partners is one of the largest marketing companies operating in the American market for over 15 years.
Thanks to these efforts, awareness and export of Georgian wine in the US market have increased. From January to April of this year, up to 364,000 liters of wine were exported from Georgia to the USA, an increase of 47% compared to the same period last year. Currently, the USA ranks 6th on the list of Georgian wine exporting countries.
