Organized by the National Wine Agency, the Annual Wine World Trade Group (WWTG) meeting takes place in Brussels, the capital of the Kingdom of Belgium.
The one-year tenure of Georgia's chairmanship of the World Wine Trade Group (WWTG) and the accomplished outcomes will be assessed at the Brussels meeting. Throughout the chairmanship, the National Wine Agency performed as the primary coordinator of the organization's endeavors.
From May 1, 2023, the chairmanship of the aforementioned organization was transferred to Georgia, following the principle of rotation, for a one-year term, succeeding the United States of America. During the ongoing meeting in Brussels, Georgia will transfer the chairmanship to Australia.
The World Wine Trade Group (WWTG) is an association of wine-producing countries. The members of the group, alongside Georgia, include the United States, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa, and Uruguay.
The primary objective of the organization is to facilitate the trade of wine, promote international wine trade, and implement collaborative measures to eliminate trade barriers.
It is worth mentioning that Georgia also chaired the World Wine Trade Group (WWTG) in 2014. Georgia's one-year chairmanship was evaluated positively by the WWTG. During the aforementioned period, significant agreements were reached and documents were developed to streamline the wine trade procedures among the member countries of this organization. The document adopted at the plenary meeting of the World Wine Trade Group (WWTG) held in Tbilisi in August 2014, titled "Analytical Methodology and Regulatory Limits on Constituents and Potential Contaminants in Wine," continues to be referred to as the "Tbilisi Statement" within the organization.
