Submission of reports on dual vocational education programs in the vineyard cadastre and wine sector
Deputy Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Iuri Nozadze attended the presentation of the reports of dual vocational education programs in the vineyard cadastre and wine sector. The event was jointly organized by the National Wine Agency, the Association "Georgian Wine" and the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ).
"The National Wine Agency has almost completed work on the vineyard cadastre program, which is very important from the point of view of statistics and accounting, as well as necessary for wine quality control. At the same time, dual professional education is very interesting, which gives students the opportunity, together with theoretical knowledge, to obtain practical experience, which will be useful for them in their professional advancement", - noted Iuri Nozadze.
The Deputy Minister thanked the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) for the contribution of the German government in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection.
Zurab Vacharadze, the deputy chairman of the National Wine Agency, spoke about the importance of the vineyard cadastre program and professional education in the development of the field of viticulture and winemaking.
Marina Avalishvili-de Boer, an expert of the GIZ program "Development of the private sector in the South Caucasus", focused on the projects and activities aimed at supporting the wine sector.
The event held at the National Wine Agency was attended by representatives of the winemaking industry, as well as the governmental, non-governmental and private sectors of the education sector. The report of the vineyard cadastre program was presented by Davit Maghradze, the head of the vineyard cadastre division of the National Wine Agency, and the report of dual professional education in the wine sector was presented by Tata Jaiani, the communications and business development manager of the "Georgian Wine" association.
The vineyard cadastre report presented data as of December 31, 2022. The National Wine Agency has been implementing the cadastre program since 2014. The program has already been completed in Kakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions. A total of 45,313 hectares of vineyards are described in the mentioned regions. In 2023, the program will be implemented in the regions of Imereti, Samegrelo and Guria and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, after which the program will fully cover the viticulture regions of Georgia.
As for the dual education program, since 2015, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) has started working on the introduction of dual education in the field of viticulture and winemaking in Georgia. Within the framework of the program "Development of the private sector in the South Caucasus", in 2016, in two colleges (Aisi, Public College named after Ilia Tsinamdzgvrishvili), the program "Highest professional winegrower-winemaker" was started with the participation of eight wine cellars; From 2021, another college "Prestige" was added to the program. The partner of the program from the German side was the Bavarian State Institute of Viticulture and Horticulture, which has a long experience in introducing and implementing dual education. The duration of the program is 3 years and 46 students have already completed it; Currently, 20 students are studying with the program.
