Georgian Wine - National Wine Agency

Joint organization of the events for promotion  Georgian wine and Georgian rugby within the framework of the 2023 World Cup is provided for in the memorandum signed between the National Wine Agency and the Georgian Rugby Union.
The Georgian wine presentation event held in Bordeaux, in the world center of wine civilization "Cité du Vin", directly organized by the National Wine Agency and supported by the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of France, included two parts: a professional tasting of Georgian wine, which was attended by 80 invited guests. The tasting was led by the sommelier of the World Center of Wine Civilization, who introduced the Georgian wines preserved in the Bordeaux Museum to the guests; and a gala dinner for the guests, among whom were representatives of World Rugby, the French Rugby Federation, the Fiji Rugby Union, the Georgian Rugby Union, the Embassy and Consulate of Georgia in the Republic of France, as well as Georgian veteran rugby players who played in French clubs at different times.
Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Davit Tkemaladze, Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency attended the event held in Bordeaux.
"It is symbolic that these two events took place exactly here, in the world wine capital, the city of Bordeaux. Georgia was the country that opened this museum in the world center of wine civilization "Cité du Vin in 2017, and it was from here that the world community learned about the scientifically proven fact that Georgia, with its 8-year continuous history of wine production, is the homeland of wine," said David Tkemaladze.
World Rugby President Bill Beaumont attended the gala dinner.
"This is a great event, number one, and I think coming to France, in the heart of the wine world, and tasting Georgian wine is an absolutely outstanding. The contribution that the Georgian rugby team has made to the country, to the world rugby, is immense. I am delighted to be able to attend this event on behalf of the world rugby, taste your excellent wines and your hospitality,” said Bill Beaumont.
The special and plenipotentiary ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of France Gocha Javakhishvili presided the gala dinner held in Bordeaux.
"Georgia was represented today in the Bordeaux Wine Museum, which is considered the Mecca of wine in the world. It is very symbolic that this gathering was held within the framework of the rugby championship and Georgian wine and Georgian rugby were jointly presented. The guests of the event are delighted with Georgian wine, polyphony, cuisine and hospitality", said Gocha Javakhishvili.
According to the memorandum signed between the National Wine Agency and the Georgian Rugby Union, after the end of the Rugby World Cup, similar events will become a part of all major international tournaments in which The Georgian National Rugby Team „Borjgalosnebi“  participate.
