American wine professionals visited Georgia with the support of the National Wine Agency
Representatives of the commercial sector and the American marketing company “Colangelo & Partners”, a contractor of the National Wine Agency were among the guests. In order to search for potential importers and, therefore, promote export growth, presenting Georgian wine to American professionals is extremely important.
The members of the 7-member group visited Georgian wine-producing companies in Kakheti, where they learned about the history and traditions of Georgian wine-making, and tasted both classical and traditional Georgian wines on the spot.
"First of all, I would like to thank the National Wine Agency for inviting us. There is a European style of winemaking in Georgia, and Georgian also respect heritage and tradition; The mixture of the two is amazing. We are really excited about Qvevri wine. I always say that the winemakers are the artists and we, as retailers and sommeliers, are the storytellers," said Sandra Rose Marie Spalding, a member of the group.
Within the visit, at a special tasting held in Tbilisi, the members of the group of American wine professionals had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the different wines of 30 companies. Georgian wine producers received evaluations from American professionals. At the mentioned event, Irakli Cholobargia, Advisor of the National Wine Agency, delivered a presentation on the history, culture and field of viticulture and winemaking of Georgian wine.
