The handing over of hail-damaged grapes is going without hindrance in Kakheti region
As of September 5, 1050 tons of damaged grapes have been processed by the state wine-making enterprise LLC "Harvest Management Company".
Handing over the hail-damaged grapes is currently taking place at 5 locations in the following municipalities: Telavi (2 locations), Sighnaghi, Kvareli and Gurjaani.
The strong hail and wind of September 2 damaged various agricultural crops, including vineyards, in the municipalities of Kvareli, Telavi, Akhmeta, Sighnaghi and Gurjaani in the Kakheti region. According to preliminary data, an area of more than 3500 hectares has been damaged by hail.
Handing over of damaged grapes to the state enterprise started on September 3, the day after the disaster day. The wine-growers hand over the damaged grapes to "Harvest Management Company" LLC for 90 tetri.
Within the framework of the 2023 vintage, a total of 16,000 tons of grapes have been processed. Out of which, up to 8 thousand tons of grape are Rkatsiteli, 5 thousand tons of Saperavi and the rest are different varieties of grapes. The private sector is active this year. 220 wine enterprises registered the request of readiness for grape harvest processing in the Coordination Headquarters for Vintage.
