The Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla and the State Representative in Kakheti Region, Giorgi Aladashvili got introduced with the process of handing over damaged grapes to the state enterprise "Harvest Management Company" LLC in the village of Akura. 
The strong hail and wind of September 2 damaged various agricultural crops, including vineyards, in the municipalities of Kvareli, Telavi, Akhmeta, Sighnaghi and Gurjaani in the Kakheti region.
Handing over of damaged grapes to the state enterprise started on September 3, the day after the disaster day. The wine-growers hand over the damaged grapes to "Harvest Management Company" LLC for 90 tetri.
  "The population actively hands over damaged grapes. Handing over of hail-damaged grapes is taking place at 4 locations at the present. If necessary, we are ready to add 2 more locations strating from tomorrow. According to preliminary data, an area of more than 3,500 hectares has been damaged by hail, especially the municipalities of Telavi and Gurjaani, due to this the state enterprise located in the village of Akura is especially busy. You can see that the process is going without any hindrance," said Levan Mekhuzla.
According to him, 11 thousand tons of grapes have been processed and the private sector is active. In total, 500 tons of damaged grapes were processed by the state enterprise.
"Unfortunately, those damaged grapes, which are not used for winemaking, will be processed for making spirits in the state enterprise," he added.
