Organizational issues of the harvest were discussed at the meeting held with the entrepreneurs
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Yuri Nozadze, and the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, discussed the organizational issues of the Vintage 2023 at a meeting held with wine producers.
"Correct communication between the state and the private sector is very important. That is why we have not made any important decision without consulting entrepreneurs and farmers, which also gives us results. The state will continue to support the wine industry in a number of directions, obviously, marketing support will continue, which we are actively working on at this stage", -noted the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Yuri Nozadze.
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, this year, in order to support the harvest, Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane varieties of grapes will be subsidized. The state subsidy will be received by the company that will pay at least 0.90 GEL to the grape-owners for 1 kg of grapes purchased. In exchange for the purchase of grapes grown by wine-growers in the Kakheti region, the subsidy given to companies is 0.20 GEL for 1 kg of Rkatsiteli and 1 kg of Kakhuri Mtsvane. Last year, the state subsidy for 1 kg of Rkatsiteli and 1 kg of Kakhuri Mtsvane amounted to 0.35 GEL.
According to the chairman of the National Wine Agency, the National Wine Agency and other relevant state agencies are fully prepared to ensure that the harvest is arranged in an organized manner and that all winegrowers are given the opportunity to hand over the grapes seamlessly.
Representatives of more than 60 wine-producing companies attended the meeting held at the National Wine Agency, who expressed their readiness to participate in the harvest and buy grapes from the population.
