With the support of the USAID Agriculture Program, "Georgian Wine Evening" was held in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea.
The presentation of Georgian wine was held within the framework of the cooperation memorandum signed between the USAID Agriculture Program and the National Wine Agency.
The event was opened with a welcome speech of the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze. Along with the invited guests, the Chairman of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea Tarash Papaskua attended the "Georgian Wine Evening".
"It is very important that USAID became engaged in the marketing campaign of Georgian wine, which will implement various targeted measures for the promotion of Georgian wine in South Korea, as well as in the USA and Germany. The event held in Seoul gave Georgian producers the opportunity to present their products to local wine professionals, wine importers and media representatives. This type of activities are one of the important factors contributing to the increase of Georgian wine export", said Yuri Nozadze.
As the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, Tarash Papaskua noted at the event, Korea has a huge potential to become a consumer of Georgian wine.
"Our embassy makes every effort to promote Georgian wine on the Korean market. "Georgian Wine Evening" held in Seoul was attended by representatives of about 20 Korean companies interested in exporting Georgian wine to the Korean market and making use of the existing potential," said Tarash Papaskua.
The wines of 16 Georgian wine producing companies with different denominations were presented to wine professionals at the "Georgian Wine Evening". Together with the members of the Georgian delegation, Chan Joon Park, director of the Eastern and Central European Wine Institute addressed to the guests. Tata Jaiani, Communications and Business Development Manager of the Association "Georgian Wine" delivered a presentation on Georgian wine culture and modern industry.
"The wine market of the Republic of Korea has grown significantly during the Covid pandemic, and local importers and consumers have become more interested in Western European as well as Georgian wines. They were convinced of how attractive Georgian wine is. It should be noted that young people show more and more interest in Georgian wine, which is the result of marketing campaigns carried out by the National Wine Agency." Georgian wine has great potential in the Korean market," said Jun Park. Based on discussions with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the National Wine Agency and private sector representatives, as well as the analysis of Georgian wine export statistics and trends, the USAID, Germany and South Korea were identified as priority markets for the diversification of Georgian wine exports within the framework of the USAID Agriculture Program. Within the framework of the memorandum signed in May of current year, the first event of presentation of Georgian wine was held in Seoul.
