Promotion of Georgian wine export
In order to support marketing activities focused on increasing the export of Georgian wine, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Agricultural Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Wine Agency.
The agreement was signed by the head of the USAID agriculture program, Luiza Namicheishvili, and the chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla.
"Wine is one of the main export products of Georgia. Export indicators have been steadily increasing in recent years; However, diversification of strategic markets remains a challenge. The purpose of the said memorandum is to support marketing activities focused on increasing the export of Georgian wine, so that Georgian wine can take a firm place in the world wine market. I hope that the pilot program, which will be implemented this year, will be successful and will become a long-term program", said Levan Mekhuzla.
Based on discussions with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the National Wine Agency and representatives of the private sector, as well as the analysis of Georgian wine export statistics and trends, the United States, Germany and South Korea were identified as priority markets for the diversification of Georgian wine exports within the framework of the USAID Agriculture Program.
"Wine making has recently been added to our program, which will give us the opportunity to cooperate with the National Wine Agency in the direction of marketing events. Within the framework of the program, three target markets were selected - the United States, Germany in Europe, and we are also planning pilot activities on the South Korean market. We hope that, as a result of our activities, the awareness of Georgian wine will increase, because it is truly a unique and diverse product that we can offer to all consumers and wine lovers," said Luisa Namicheishvili, head of USAID's agriculture program.
