Mtatsminda Park hosted the "New Wine Festival" organized by the "Wine Club" of Georgia
The festival was held with the support of the National Wine Agency, Tbilisi City Hall, the The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Association "Women in the Wine Industry" (WIWI). The festival aims to popularize traditional Georgian Qvevri wine, introduce public to new varieties, distribute information about wine produced in Georgia and develop wine consumer culture.
The "New Wine Festival" was traditionally characterized by a large number of participants and guests. 100 wine companies and 128 family wineries, as well as companies that are related to the wine sector participated in the festival, including both well-known and new wineries with new wines and concepts. The wine producers introduced the wines of the 2022 harvest from different regions of Georgia to the guests for tasting.
The "New Wine Festival" was opened by the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, and the President of the "Wine Club" of Georgia, Malkhaz Kharbedia. The event traditionally started with the opening ceremony of the pitcher. "The New Wine Festival is the best way to increase the promotion of Georgian wine, as well as to introduce new producers, new varieties and wines.
It is of particular importance for the winemaking industry to promote the development of the small and medium segment, which the National Wine Agency implements with various supporting measures and programs," said Levan Mekhuzla.
"New Wine Festival" has been held since 2010 and its scope is increasing every year. Traditionally, in addition to wine producers, the “New Wine Festival” is attended by Georgian and foreign wine professionals and wine writers who plan a visit to Georgia especially for this day.
