The importance of vineyard cadastre and details of the program were discussed by Zurab Vacharadze, the Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency, and David Maghradze, the Head of the Viticulture Cadastre Department, at the work meetings held with the persons in charge of the municipalities of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Guria, Samegrelo and Imereti regions.
As mentioned at the meetings, the implementation of the Vineyard Cadastre Program is crucial for the development of the viticulture-wine industry; Creating a cadastre will simplify the harvest process and ensure the quality of vitinicultural products.
By the representatives of the local government full readiness was expressed to be involved in the process of implementing the program within the scope of their competence.
The vineyard cadastre program has been implemented by the National Wine Agency since 2014.
The program has already been completed in the regions of Kakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti, where in total 45,312 hectares of vineyards have been described.
The vineyard cadastre is created by registering each vineyard plot and includes the grape varieties existing in the vineyard, the date of planting, the condition of the vineyard, etc. Information is collected in the field, by interviewing viticulturists and by identifying vineyard plots on aerial photographs.
