"Viticulture Development Measures"
Considering the increased export of Georgian wine, the National Wine Agency will implement quality control of wine and alcoholic beverages in much more active manner from 2023, which includes inspection control, organoleptic testing, state control and supervision. Accordingly, the budget of the "Laboratory research of wine" sub-program in 2023, compared to the previous year, was increased by 16.7% and amounted to GEL 700 thousand.
Moreover, the budget for "Viticulture Development Measures" was increased by 8.3% to GEL 650,000, within the framework of which, the vineyard cadastre program will be completed in the viticulture municipalities of Georgia in 2023, where the program has not yet been implemented, and the data for the program's existing database will be updated. The vineyard cadastre program was initiated by the National Wine Agency in 2014. The program was completed in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kakheti regions in 2021; This year the program will be carried out in Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions.
It should be noted that the budgetary funding for the sub-programs of "Promotion of Georgian Wine" and "Development of the Designation of Origin" sub-programs amounted to GEL 100-100 thousand, which is the basis for initiating the activities in both directions: scientific work related to the history and culture of Georgian wine and new archaeological studies will continue, activities to register new geographical indications of Georgian wine will also be initiated.
