Statement of the National Wine Agency
24.10.2022

The vintage 2022 is coming to an end successfully. Throughout the country, the grape harvest is settled. At this stage, 246 thousand tons of grapes were processed throughout the country. The Racha region has also completed the vintage, where 1570 tons of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes have been processed. In Racha, almost 100% of the harvest - up to 1,500 tons - was taken over by the private sector. It is noteworthy that during the vintage 2022, the private sector took over the main part of the grapes.
The state's promise that the harvest would be organized and all the growers would be able to accommodate the harvest without interruption has been fulfilled. Consequently, no farmer's harvest will be left behind.
As for the dissatisfaction of certain groups regarding the price of grapes in Tsageri municipality, wine companies continue to receive grapes without interruption. (Private companies are ready to pay 3.50 GEL for 1 kg of Tsolikauri grapes, depending on the quality, which is the highest offer in the villages of Tsageri municipality, where they are protesting the price of grapes. Last year, the price did not exceed 3 GEL).
The market regulates the price of grapes, the state does not interfere in price regulation. The issue is the subject of an agreement between the farmers and the private sector.
If there is no request from the private sector for the purchase of the grapes, the state company "Vintage Management Company" is ready to purchase grapes from the growers to fully accommodate the grapes.
