After the end of the government session, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia made a statement about the decision regarding the vintage in the Racha-Lechkhumi region.
As the minister mentioned, according to the government's decision, this year, to support the vintage, the subsidy program will also be implemented in the Racha region.
"Our goal is that none of the winegrowers in the Racha-Lechkhumi region should face the problem of accommodation of the grape harvest, and they should receive the appropriate income. It is also important to involve the private sector in the vintage process, to give more incentives to private enterprises to fully purchase grapes grown in the Racha-Lechkhumi region, and to reduce the state's involvement in this process to a minimum. So, according to the government's decision, all companies that purchase and process at least 3 tons of Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes grown in the Khvanchkara micro-zone and will pay the grower at least 7 GEL will receive a subsidy. Companies in the Racha-Lechkhumi region receive a subsidy of 4 lari for 1 kg of Alexandrouli and 1 kg of Mujuretuli. The vintage will be organized and successful both in Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions", said Otar Shamugia.
It should be noted that the vintage in the Racha region will begin in the first half of October, and about 30 companies will be involved in the process. The forecast harvest of Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes is within 1500-1700 tons. To organize the vintage 2022, the vintage coordination HQ will be operating in the city of Ambolauri.
