The progress of the vintage
As of September 22, up to 142 thousand tons of grapes have been processed in the Kakheti region. Out of this, up to 75 thousand tons of Rkatsiteli, up to 58 thousand tons of Saperavi, up to 4 thousand tons of Kakhuri green grapes, and the rest are different varieties of grapes.
About 13,000 winegrowers handed over grapes to wine enterprises, their income reaches 141 million GEL. The price of 1 kilogram of grapes from 14 thousand tons of processed Rkatsiteli increased from 95 tetri to 1.10 GEL. From the total volume of grapes of the Saferavi variety purchased by the companies from growers for 35 thousand tons in Saferavi, 1.55 to 1.75 GEL was paid per kilogram, which once again confirms that there is a demand for quality grapes and the price is appropriate.
The vintage is in an active phase in most regions of Kakheti, except Sagarejo municipality, which traditionally gets involved in the harvest process later.
More than 400 wine companies and wineries are currently registered in the vintage coordination HQ. Up to this stage, 205 enterprises were involved in the grape pressing. The daily processing of grapes is within 10 thousand tons.
Similarly to the previous years, the vintage HQ coordinates the organization of the harvest, the accounting and the traceability of the grapes to be handed over.
