Yuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture got acquainted with the progress of the vintage at the coordination HQ in Telavi.
According to the data of September 7, 22 thousand tons of grapes were processed in Kakheti.
According to the deputy minister, all the preconditions have been created during the vintage process so that the winegrowers can hand over the grape harvest to the enterprises without delay.
"This year we are expecting a record grape harvest of up to 300,000 tons. Our task is to help our winegrowers as much as possible in the grape delivery process. The vintage coordination HQ is fully mobilized to ensure that the vintage goes smoothly. It is very important that conditioned, high-quality grapes are delivered to wine enterprises because it is high-quality grapes that determine the quality of the wine and subsequently its competitiveness" - noted Yuri Nozadze.
As of September 7, more than 1,400 winegrowers have delivered grapes, their income reaches 17 million GEL.
The processed grapes include up to 7,800 tons are Rkatshiteli, up to 9,600 tons of Saperavi, up to 2,000 tons of Kakhuri Mtsvane and the rest are grapes of various varieties.
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, a subsidy program will be implemented to support the vintage 2022. The goal of the program is to fully accommodate the grape harvest and maintain the dynamics of stable development of the viticulture-winemaking industry.
 With the support of the subsidy program, up to 25 thousand winegrower farmers will be able to sell their harvest.
