Georgia is the leader in the share of organic wines in the USA among the wine importing countries
According to the information provided by the American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE), 11.3% of the wine imported from Georgia in the USA has an organic wine certificate, thus taking the first place among the main importing countries in the American market; Austria is in the second place - with 7.4%, Canada is the third - with 7.1%.
The USA is a strategic export market for Georgian wine, where, in 2021, the historical maximum of exports was recorded - 1,084,278 bottles of wine. Export growth rates have also been maintained this year: according to January-July data, 660,000 bottles of wine were exported, which is 16% higher than the figure of the same period last year.
It should be noted that the 14th annual conference of the American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE) will be held on August 24-28, 2022, in Georgia, in cooperation with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and with the support of the National Wine Agency and the American-Georgia Business Council.
The association unites government and business sector representatives, economists, and researchers from different countries of the world. The organization's activities include economic research and analysis of the wine industry, including marketing, consumption, production, macroeconomics, and legal issues, as well as the preparation of reviews on various issues related to viticulture and winemaking.
Holding the AAWE annual conference in Georgia will once again confirm that Georgia, as a wine-producing and exporting country, occupies an important place in the world wine industry.
AAWE's 13th annual conference was held in Vienna in 2019 before the pandemic.
