National Wine Agency Plans Measures to Popularize Georgian Wine in Scandinavian Countries and Increase Export Potential
Representatives of the National Wine Agency in the Kingdom of Denmark visited the Kingdom of Denmark as part of ongoing measures to diversify its markets.
During the visit, Davit Tkemaladze, Deputy Chairman of the Agency, met with Thomas Ilkaer, Manager of the Danish Branch of the Scandinavian Wine Academy. At the meeting, Davit Tkemaladze spoke about the state policy and plans to increase the awareness and popularization of Georgian wine and noted that Denmark, like other Scandinavian countries, is an important new direction.
The parties discussed plans for specific cooperation and joint events.
It is noteworthy that the Thomas Ilkaer Wine Academy has tens of winemakers, restaurants and wineries. Accordingly, the inclusion of Georgian topics in the curriculum of the Academy will help to raise knowledge about Georgia and Georgian wine.
During the visit, Georgian wine tasting was organized in Copenhagen, by the Embassy of Georgia in the Kingdom of Denmark, supported by the National Wine Agency and the company "Georgisk vin", attended by wine professionals, including sommelier school manager, sommelier, wine tour organizers, online wine magazine and wine writers.
The guests were welcomed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Denmark, Nata Menabde, who spoke about the unique method of making Georgian wine and its eight-thousand-year history.
Within the framework of the event, a scientific-documentary film "Georgia, the Homeland of Wine" show was held; A presentation on the history of Georgian wine and the modern winemaking industry was held, led by Giorgi Tevzadze, Advisor to the Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
