Georgia is the first country to host the Merano Wine Festival outside Italy
The festival has been held in Italy since 1992 and is one of the most unique in the world not only in the field of wine but also in the gastronomic products industry.
The organizers and supporters of the festival are: Georgian Wine Association, National Wine Agency, Merano Wine Festival and the online platform Merano Wine Hunter; The partner of the event is "Chateau Mukhrani".
Iuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency attended the festival held at Chateau Mukhrani.
"I am glad that the Merano Wine Festival is being held in Georgia. The festival is also interesting because, in addition to wine, gastronomic products are also presented. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture welcomes and supports this type of initiatives, which makes Georgian wine in general, and Qvevri wine in particular, even more popular," said Iuri Nozadze.
At the Festival held in Chateau Mukhrani, guests had the opportunity to taste wines and gastronomic products from various companies. About 100 companies were represented at the festival. Within the framework of the event, culinary master classes, seminars, tasting of Italian and Georgian wines were held.
The awarding ceremony of the winners of the International Qvevri Wine Competition was held within the framework of the Merano Wine Festival. At the competition, 351 samples from 105 countries were represented by 105 companies. The jury of the best Georgian and foreign experts selected wines from the competition samples.
The International Qvevri Wine Competition was founded in 2017. The aim of the competition is to raise the awareness of Qvevri wine produced in different countries. By placing Merano Wine Hunter wines on the online platform, the competition will present the best Qvevri wines to its customers, thus supporting to increase production and popularize Qvevri wine.
