Independence Day of Georgia
26.05.2022

Otar Shamugia: "We are moving forward step by step towards Europe. This is the message of the day as well. I am confident that we will soon become a full member of the European family".
On May 26, the events dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia, organized by the Government of Georgia, are held throughout the country. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, visited the spaces arranged on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi by the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Environmental Information and Education Centre.
"First of all, I congratulate every citizen of Georgia on Independence Day. We have gone through many wars and social crises, but we are moving forward step by step towards Europe. This is the message of the day as well. The choice of the vast majority of the population of our country is Europe and, I am sure, we will soon become a full member of the European family. Unfortunately, 20% of our country is occupied, but I believe that together with our Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers, we can unite peacefully and build a strong united country," said Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
This year, the concept of "Georgia's historic choice - the road towards Europe" unites the events dedicated to the Independence Day. Georgian Wine Space and Green Space will host citizens from on Rustaveli Avenue, 11:00 to 18:00.
The stand of the National Wine Agency brings together small and medium-sized wine companies / cellars, wine bars, lounges and photography spots. Citizens have the opportunity to taste and buy different types of Georgian wine. Calligraphy and drawing master classes will be held for the little guests of the stand - kids will be able to paint clay pottery, as well as prepare memorable postcards and bookmarks.
The green space of the Environmental Information and Education Center combines educational and entertaining locations, a children's "green" workshop and a relaxation eco-space - "Green Cafe". The space presents a variety of plants and installations with environmental themes. During the day, visitors to the stand will be able to take part in a number of environmental activities.
Within the framework of the ceremonial events dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia, stands of the Agency of Agricultural and Rural Development and Agency of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environmental Protection  and Agriculture were organized in Gori and Telavi. Throughout the day, visitors to the stands will have the opportunity to take part in various educational-entertaining activities, taste and purchase products produced by state program beneficiaries, watch photo exhibitions and Georgia-EU installations.
Within the framework of the events, costumed processions and performances will be organized, concerts with the participation of Georgian performers will be held. At 17:10, at the time when Georgia declared its independence in 1918, the anthems of Georgia and the European Union will be performed.
