With the support of the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Tbilisi City Hall, the 13th "New Wine Festival" organized by the Georgian Wine Club was held in Mtatsminda Park.
The aim of the festival is to popularize traditional Georgian Qvevri wine, introduce new varieties, spread information about the wine produced in Georgia and develop the wine consumer culture.
This year, 61 wine companies, 89 family cellars, and 10 companies producing wine packaging/consumption accessories participated in the festival.
The New Wine Festival was opened by Malkhaz Kharbedia, President of the Georgian Wine Club, and Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency. The event traditionally began with the Qvevri opening ceremony. Wine producers offered guests the wines of the vintage 2021 from different regions of Georgia. The best wines of Kakheti, Kartli, Imereti, Guria, Samegrelo, Racha-Lechkhumi, Adjara, Samtskhe-Javakheti were presented at the festival, which were selected by the tasting commission of the Wine Club.
According to the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, the main goal of the festival is to promote Georgian wine and increase consumer culture.
"The National Wine Agency is a supporter of the New Wine Festival this year, as in previous years. The festival serves to popularize Georgian wine and increase its awareness, as well as to introduce new producers, new varieties, and wines. The festival hosts wine professionals, sommeliers, importers, and wine writers from around the world. It is especially important for us to promote the development of small and medium segments in wine production. Within the festival, small and medium cellars have the best opportunity to introduce their products to wine professionals and consumers, "- said Levan Mekhuzla.
