One of the main activities of the National Wine Agency is the quality control of Georgian wine and grape spirits. Adherence to the international standard of production ensures the growth of competitiveness and demand for Georgian alcoholic beverages, including both local and international markets.
For maximum quality control, starting from June 2021, in accordance with the agreements signed with the National Wine Agency, the inspection of certified export Georgian wine is carried out by the international audit companies "SGS" and "Bureau Veritas" in the Customs Clearance Zone. By these companies, 166 inspections were carried out last year, 20 of the 324 samples taken had been revoked the certificate.
In addition, in 2021, the National Wine Agency carried out 50 state controls and state supervision, which means identification of  the technological process of wine in enterprises  in compliance with the requirements set by the legislation of Georgia. 700 samples were taken, the number of violations was 6.
During the reporting period, 41 inspections were carried out, 116 samples were taken, 3 of which were refused certification. Inspection involves determining the conformity of an exported alcoholic beverage or spirit sample with a lot (bottled wine batch) submitted for certification.
In 2021, 275 tastings were conducted for organoleptic testing of export spirits; 12,527 samples were received, of which 688 were evaluated negatively.
