National Wine Agency completed the vineyard cadaster program in Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions in 2021
08.02.2022

The National Wine Agency has been implementing the Georgian Vineyard Cadaster Program since 2014. As a result, information on 42,966 hectares of vineyards, 35,336 viticulturists and 113,093 plots has been collected in Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions.
The vineyard cadaster is one of the main requirements for the development of the viticulture-winemaking sector and the promotion of quality wine production. At the same time, the Vineyard Cadaster ensures an organized and transparent vintage process. The vineyard cadaster  is available to all EU member states where the viticulture and winemaking industry is developed. Georgia is introducing significant European experience by creating a vineyard cadaster.
In 2021, 26 thousand hectares of vineyards were registered in Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions. During the vintage 2021, all growers in both regions, a total of 23 thousand, handed over the grapes to the enterprises with the extract of the vineyard cadaster.
In 2022, the vineyard cadaster program will be implemented in Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions and in the near future will cover all viticulture regions of Georgia.
Vineyard Cadaster is created by collecting detailed information on the identification and registration of each vineyard plot - location of the vineyard, vine varieties, date of planting, condition of the vineyard, etc.
