The joint project of the National Wine Agency and the International Cooperation Agency "Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine" aims to share experience and promote cooperation between Georgian and French wine producers; The project is especially important for the promotion of Georgian wine and culture in France.
Within the framework of the project, Georgian winemakers attended technical conferences and trainings on the French wine sector at the SITEVI International Exhibition in Montpellier, France, held business (B2B) meetings, got acquainted with new technologies and innovations in the field of viticulture and winemaking, visited the ancestral winery Domaine de Rieucoulon.
Georgian winemakers also visited the World Wine Civilization Center - Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. The center was opened in 2017 and the first host country was Georgia with the exhibition "Georgia is the homeland of wine".
The Georgian delegation found it especially interesting to visit the French vineyards, where they got acquainted with the historical wine cellars, vine care and winemaking methods, tasted the best French wines (Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Château Latour Martillac, Château Loudenne, Château Pontet-Can).
Georgian winemakers were given the opportunity to present their products at a tasting at the Chai des Chartron wine shop in the historic Bordeaux Wine Trade District.
Representatives of Georgian wine companies - Vellino, Anapea, Gida Wine, Mtevino, KateWine and Gvardzelashvili Cellar - participated in the study visit.
It should be noted that the International Cooperation Agency "Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine" applied to the National Wine Agency for the implementation of a joint project earlier this year. Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine has received a grant from the European Parliament (EU2Business) to implement a cooperation project between Georgian and French wine companies.
The Georgian-French joint project also includes the visit of the French delegation to Georgia; The first visit has already taken place from October 23 to October 28 of the current year, and the second is scheduled for February 20 to February 26, 2022. Georgian winemakers will pay a second visit to France from January 23 to January 29, 2022.
