In order to organize the vintage, there is a vintage coordination headquarters in the city of Ambolauri. At this stage, about 30 companies are registered in the headquarters, which are involved in vintage in Racha-Lechkhumi region. Grape receiving points are open at 17 locations, allowing for smooth crop storing process.
It should be noted that due to the situation created by the world pandemic, in countries with developed winemaking industry, the demand for grapes from processing enterprises has decreased. Based on the above, in order to support viticulturist farmers, according to the decision of the Government of Georgia, the vintage subsidy program operates again in Kakheti, as well as Racha-Lechkhumi region.
In Racha-Lechkhumi region, the subsidy will be given to all the companies that will buy and process at least 3 tons of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes grown in Khvanchkara microzone and pay a viticulturist at least 7 GEL for 1 kg of grapes. The amount of the subsidy is 3 GEL per 1 kg of both Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes.
Special checkpoints have been opened at the entrances of Racha region in order to protect the varietal accuracy and quality of Khvanchkara PDO wines; All vehicles entering the region will be inspected to prevent grapes from being imported from other municipalities in the Racha region. For the same purpose, ampelographers monitor the grapes to be delivered at all grape receiving points.
Grapes harvested in Racha-Lechkhumi regions are delivered on the basis of the cadaster extract issued by the National Wine Agency. At this stage, about 1700 viticulturists have taken the cadastral extract in Ambrolauri municipality.
