According to the chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, during the current year's harvest, it was revealed that the priority for the growers was the quality of the grapes and not the quantity.
"Since the beginning of the year, we have had active communication with viticulturist farmers. At the meetings in the villages, one of the important issues to be discussed was to focus not on the quantity of the harvest, but on the quality. Our viticulturist farmers have correctly understood and taken into account the importance of this approach; As a result, this year the grapes are of high quality. Conditional grapes improve the quality parameters of wine, which, in the long run, has a positive impact on the price of Georgian wine and, consequently, on the incomes of both growers and entrepreneurs. High quality will allow Georgian wine to establish a proper place in export markets. This path has been followed by many developed countries of winemaking and has reached the desired result. In addition to reducing the number of harvest due to hail, this year, compared to last year, we received less grapes at the expense of high quality, "- said Levan Mekhuzla.
Improving the quality of Georgian wine is one of the major priorities of the National Wine Agency. Proper vineyard care and grape condition are keys to getting high quality wine, which in turn determines its reputation and price in both local and international markets.
