Up to 120 thousand tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti
16.09.2021

As of September 16, up to 120,000 tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti, which is about 45% of the forecasted data. Rkatsiteli - up to 70 thousand tons, Saperavi - up to 42 thousand tons, Kakhuri Mtsvane - up to 3 thousand tons and the rest of different grape varieties have been processed.
The daily processing of grapes is within 10 thousand tons, which indicates an active vintage process.
The vintage is underway in almost all municipalities of Kakheti, except Sagarejo, which will be involved in the harvest storing process from next week.
In Kakheti, viticulturists have already earned more than 120 million GEL from the sale of grapes.
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, a subsidy program will be implemented to support the vintage 2021. The aim of the program is not to negatively affect the situation caused by the pandemic on viticulture farmers and wine producers, to fully store the grape harvest. Within the framework of the vintage 2021, the subsidy will be given to all the companies that will buy and process at least 100 tons of Rkatsiteli or Kakhuri Mtsvane grapes grown in Kakheti region and pay a viticulturist at least 0.90 GEL per 1 kg of grapes.
