The harvest is in an active phase in Kakheti, almost 40% of the crop has already been settled
As of September 14, up to 100,000 tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti, which is about 40% of the forecasted data. The daily processing of grapes is within 10 thousand tons. To date, 136 wineries have been involved in the vintage process.
In Kakheti, viticulturists have already earned more than 90 million GEL from the sale of grapes. The harvest was sold by about 10 thousand winegrowers.
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, a subsidy program will be implemented to support the vintage 2021. The aim of the program is not to negatively affect the situation caused by the pandemic on viticulture farmers and wine producers, to fully store the grape harvest. Within the framework of the vintage 2021, the subsidy will be given to all the companies that will buy and process at least 100 tons of Rkatsiteli or Kakhuri Mtsvane grapes grown in Kakheti region and pay a viticulturist at least 0.90 GEL per 1 kg of grapes.
