Vintage has started in Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi municipalities
Conditional grape harvest in Kakheti has traditionally started from Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi, and will continue next week in other municipalities of the region.
In the framework of the vintage 2021, a total of 31 thousand tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti: 8.3 thousand tons of Saperavi, up to 20 thousand tons of Rkatsiteli, 1.7 thousand tons of Kakhetian green and other different grapes, including over 10 thousand tons of hail-damaged grapes.
On August 26, heavy hail and wind damaged 4600 hectares of vineyards in Kakheti region, Gurjaani, Telavi and Kvareli municipalities.
On September 2, hail was repeated in Kvareli and Telavi, 180 hectares of vineyards were damaged. Grapes damaged on September 2 will be processed smoothly by the state-owned enterprise "Crop Management Company" Ltd., and accommodation of the grapes damaged on August 26 is coming to an end.
According to the government's decision, the viticulturists whose harvest has been 100% destroyed by the hail will receive 3000 GEL per hectare area as a one-time compensation. The grape growers deliver 1 kg of Rkatsiteli for 0.80 GEL and 1 kg of Saperavi for 1 GEL for the grapes damaged as a result of the hail.
In addition, the calculation of the loss of the beneficiaries of the hail-affected state agricultural insurance program has already begun. The state finances 70% of the insurance policy for all crops and 50% for vines.
