All relevant resources are mobilized for the vintage to be organized
Otar Shamugia, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, met with representatives of the local government, the National Wine Agency and other relevant services at the coordination headquarter in Telavi.
The Deputy Minister got acquainted with the organizational issues related to the upcoming vintage.
"This year, the forecasted grape harvest in Georgia is abundant and reaches 300 thousand tons. According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, a subsidy program will be implemented to support the vintage 2021. The aim of the program is not to negatively affect the situation caused by the pandemic to viticulturist farmers and wine producers, to fully accommodate the grape harvest, it is important for us to maintain the dynamics of stable development of viticulture and winemaking in recent years” – said the deputy minister.
Within the framework of the vintage 2021, the subsidy will be given to all the companies that will buy and process at least 100 tons of Rkatsiteli or Kakhetian green grapes grown in Kakheti region and pay a viticulturist at least 0.90 GEL per 1 kg of grapes.
Particular attention was paid to compliance with pandemic regulations during the vintage period. It was noted that given the epidemiological situation, the vast majority of the staff of the National Wine Agency, including members of the Vintage Coordination Staff, have already been vaccinated twice.
It was noted that the online vintage accounting program, which has been operating in the country since 2013 and ensures transparency of the grape delivery process, which is important for the production of high-quality wine, is in full technical readiness.
In order to organize the vintage 2021, the vintage coordination headquarters started working on a 24-hour shift.
Wine companies can register both at the coordination headquarters and online.
