Draft Amendments to the Production Specification of PDO "Kindzmarauli" is Prepared
The draft amendments to the production specification of PDO “Kindzmarauli” was prepared at the National Wine Agency and sent to the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia - Sakpatenti for registration.
The project envisages the change of the 5th and 9th paragraphs of the specification for the production of wine "Kindzmarauli", the wording of which is defined as follows:
“5. Vine varieties
"Kindzmarauli" wine is made from Saperavi and / or Saperavi Budeshuriseburi grapes grown in Kindzmarauli micro-zone. It is not allowed to use other varieties in its production. "
“9. Grape processing, wine making and bottling
Grapes intended for the production of "Kindzmarauli" should be harvested only from vineyards cultivated in the Kindzmarauli micro-zone.
Grape processing and wine-making is allowed only within the Kakheti zone, and bottling outside the Kakheti zone, only on the territory of Georgia.
In addition, the export of grapes from Kindzmarauli micro-zone for processing and the export of wine for bottling from Kakheti viticulture zone is allowed only under strict registration and control conditions.
"Kindzmarauli" is made by incomplete alcoholic fermentation of wine dregs. During the production of "Kindzmarauli" it is allowed to use only those operations, materials and substances that are allowed by the legislation of Georgia.
"Kindzmarauli can be taken to the consumer market only in the form of consumer packaging."
In the production specification of "Kindzmarauli" at this stage it is allowed to use up to 15% of Saperavi grapes grown outside the Kindzmarauli micro-zone, but within the Kakheti viticulture zone.
