Another Success of Georgian Wine in Japan
Competition
Georgian wines of different brand names won 13 gold and 1 silver medals at the prestigious international competition "Sakura" in Japan.
The 8th Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2021 is a large-scale event held for the eighth time this year. It featured more than 4,000 different wines from 32 countries. The competition jury is composed of women working in the wine industry in Japan - sommeliers, wine writers and journalists.
The wines at the competition 2021 were evaluated by 186 Japanese women.
Winning in such prestigious competitions will promote the popularization and establishment of specific Georgian wine companies, as well as Georgian wine in general, in the Japanese wine market.
Japan is a strategic market for Georgian wine, where the National Wine Agency has been conducting marketing activities since 2014.
Wines from the following companies won medals at the “Sakura” 2021 competition:
4 wines of Georgian Wine and Spirits Company (GWS) received gold medals: TAMADA GRAND RESERVE 2014, TAMADA MUKUZANI 2018, VISMINO GRAND SAPERAVI 2015 and VISMINO KISI 2018;
3 wines of the "Chateau Mukhrani" company also won gold medals: CHATEAU MUKHRANI QVEVRI RED 2018, CHATEAU MUKHRANI RESERVE ROYALE GORULI MTSVANE 2016 and CHATEAU MUKHRANI RESERVE ROYALE SAPERAVI 2016;
Corporation Kindzmarauli wines - ALAZANIS VALLEY 2018 and KONCHO MTSVIVANI KAKHURI were awarded with gold medals;
2 wines of the "Mtevino" company - KINDZMARAULI 2019 and SAPERAVI KHASHMI 2019 also won gold medals;
Gold medals were awarded to Schuchmann Wines Georgia SCHUCHMANN SAPERAVI 2019 and VAZIANI COMPANY MAKASHIVILI WINE CELLAR SAPERAVI 2015;
"Pavilion Wines" KAKHETI 2017 won a silver medal at the prestigious competition;
As in 2021, in recent years, various Georgian wines have won many top awards at the "Sakura" competition.
