The exhibition "Georgia - cradle of winemaking" will be held in Seoul
From March 3 to April 1, 2021, the exhibition "Georgia - Cradle of Winemaking" will be held at the Korea Foundation Gallery in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The exhibition will feature photographs of unique exhibits preserved in the Georgian National Museum, samples of wine vessels, goldsmiths discovered in the territory of Georgia as a result of archeological excavations, works depicting cellars, pitchers and Georgian architectural monuments, as well as unique photo archives of the National Museum, that will give the visitors an opportunity to get acquainted with the 8,000-year-old continuous tradition of winemaking in Georgia.
The event dedicated to the unique history and culture of Georgian wine is organized by the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Korea, funded by the Korea Foundation and supported by the National Wine Agency and the Georgian National Museum.
South Korea is one of the largest importers of wine worldwide and a priority market for Georgian wine. In 2020, up to 90 thousand bottles were exported from Georgia to South Korea, which is 353% higher than the similar data of 2019. The exhibition "Georgia - Cradle of Winemaking" will further increase the awareness and export potential of Georgian wine on this important wine market in South-East Asia.
The concept and visual material presented within the exhibition aims to represent Georgia as the homeland of the ancient wine civilization to the Korean visitors.
