Representatives of the information-consulting department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the National Wine Agency are meeting with the population of Kakheti region to inform them about the news planned for the farmers during the 2021 vintage process.
Within the framework of the above-mentioned meetings, Besarion Sulakvelidze, Head of the Viticulture Regulation Department of the National Wine Agency met with the viticulturists in the village of Busheti, Telavi Municipality.
In the coming weeks, the meetings will cover all the villages in the eight municipalities of Kakheti.
In order to improve the quality of Georgian wine, within the vintage 2021, the quality control of grapes will be tightened. The sugar content of the grapes to be delivered, which is determined by the relevant normative documents, defines the quality of the grapes, which is further reflected in its market value. Improving the quality of Georgian wine is an ongoing process and the quality of Georgian wine, its international reputation and, consequently, its export price depends on the care of the vineyard and the condition of the grapes.
In addition, control will be exercised over the PDO (protected designations of Origin) on the productivity limits determined by the specifications. 
This year,  the vineyard cadaster program accomplishment in Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions is also scheduled, which is important for the development of the viticulture and winemaking sector and the promotion of quality wine production.

Georgian Wine
