“To me Georgian wine is a discovery”- Andrew Jefford
Georgian wine producers participated in an international wine and spirits exhibition called “Wine Expo Paris” which was held in France’s capital Paris. According to Levan Mekhuzla, chairman of the National Wine Agency: presenting Georgian wines at such exhibitions is crucial for finding new trading partners and diversifying its markets. The National Wine Agency continues to support the private sector to bring Georgian wine to all major exhibitions around the world, which is a unique opportunity to raise awareness of Georgian wines and to reach the global market.
“VineExpo has traditionally been comprised by wine professionals, importers and media representatives from many countries around the world and Georgia has been represented alongside the world's leading winemaking countries since 2015,” said Levan Mekhuzla.
Within the framework of the exhibition Andrew Jeffords, well known wine writer conducted a master class of Georgian wines with wine professionals.
“I’ve been working in the field of winemaking for 30 years. I was introduced to Georgian wine with an 8000-year history six years ago and that was a discovery for me. Excellent wines made in both traditional and classic Georgian wines. Qvevri wine is always a novelty, different, diverse, unique, something you can’t taste anywhere else. I am happy to have had the opportunity to taste and present a unique taste of Georgian wine to others today,”said Andrew Jefford. The master class was organized by the National Wine Agency and Georgian Wine Association.
