Degustation of “Exclusive Wines Georgia” in Lithuania
In the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, the most large-scale wine fair of Baltic countries, “VYNO DIENOS” (Wine Days) was held and special activity, “Exclusive Wines Georgia” was organized in the framework of the fair.
The presentation and degustation was lead by the counselor of the head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Tevzadze. In the presentation named “Georgia – 8 Thousand Vintages” the main accent was made on the ancient tradition of Georgian winemaking, variety of Georgian grape cultures, Georgian methods of winemaking and Georgian traditional method of Qvevri winemaking, , which was given the status of the Monument of Immaterial Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2013.
With the support of National Wine Agency, following 6 Georgian winemaking companies participated in the fair: “Wineman”, “Kakhuri”, “Winiveria”, LTD “Kindzmarauli”, “Royal Khvanchkara” and “Dugladze Wines and Spirits”.
The fair “VYNO DIENOS” was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia in Lithuania, Khatuna Salukvadze.
Lithuania is one of the important markets for Georgian wine export and Georgia has a great potential of developing on this market. With National Wine Agency support, Georgian wine companies participate in different degustations and fairs held in Lithuania and other Baltic countries for the purpose of Georgian wine export promotion and popularization.
Lithuania is in the ten of Georgian wine export countries. In 2015, over 658 thousand bottles of wine was exported Georgia, that is 4% higher than the similar data of 2014, in January-April of the current year, 183 thousand bottles are exported and it is 37% higher, than the data of the same period of the past year.
The fair “VYNO DIENOS” was held for the twelfth time traditionally in the largest exposition center of Vilnius, LITEXPO. The fair was attended by 4 thousand visitors – native sommeliers, importers, distributors, wine experts, journalists, bloggers and other guests.
