American wine professionals visited Georgia
American wine professionals got acquainted with Georgian wines in different parts of Georgia. The team of wine professionals was led by Julie Peterson, Director of the marketing company Mark Energy, a contractor for the National Wine Agency. The 16-member group included importers, sommeliers and media representatives.
A group of wine professionals visited wine cellars in Guria, Samegrelo, Imereti, Kartli and Kakheti. Additional tastings were held in Kutaisi and Tsinandali, where Georgian wine producers were given the opportunity to present their products to American professionals.
The event aims to promote the growth of Georgian wine exports to the US market. In agreement with the Georgian winemaking sector, the National Wine Agency has selected the United States as one of the potentially growing and important export markets for Georgian wines. According to the 9 months data of 2019, 533206 thousand bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to the USA, which is a 60% increase over the same period last year.
