Georgian wine culture presentation in International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV)
Georgian wine and wine culture presentation was held in OIV office, Paris, in presence of Diplomatic Body Accredited in France, Agricultural Camber of France, professional sommeliers, oenologists, wine journalists and bloggers, representatives of UNESCO and other international organizations.
The event was organized by National Wine Agency of Georgian Ministry of Agriculture and Georgian Embassy in France.
The aim of the fair was to introduce Georgian wine to professionals and public. In OIV , simultaneously with the degustation of Georgian wine, Georgian vine and wine history and culture fair - “Georgian wine culture reflected in French photos of IXth century “ - was held, was a representation of photos captured by French ethnographies, Josef de Bay and Hugo Kraft in 1894-1903 safeguarded in the museum of France. The exhibition of the photos was organized by the curator of cultural heritage, Ana Cheishvili.
The guests of the event were greeted by the director general of OIV, Jean-Marie Aurand, the Ambassador of Georgia in France, Ekaterine Siradze-Delone, and head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili.
15 Georgian winemaking companies were introduced on Georgian wine fair : “Chelti”, “Schuchmann Wines Georgia”, “Chateau Mukhrani”, “Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking”, “Shumi”, “Kakhuri Gvinis Marani”, “Winery Khareba”, “Kakhuri”, “Lukasi”, “Shalvino”, “Tbilvino”, “Teliani Valley”, “Wine Man”, “Maranuli” and “Vinagora”.
International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) is intergovernmental organization, which units 45 countries. The main activity of the organization is development and harmonization of technical resolutions and standards of winery field, supporting scientific researches and general development of the field.
