Official Registration of Memorandum with Nanchang Centre of Georgian Wine

Memorandum of agreement was officially registered between The LEPL National Wine Agency Ministry of Agriculture Georgia and China, Jiangxi province, Nanchang Centre of Georgian Wine. The document aims to intensify collaboration, implementation of coordinated activities, cooperated educational activities and programs for the purpose of increase popularity, publicity  and export of Georgian wine in China.

The Memorandum was signed by the Head of National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili and the Director of Nanchang Centre of Georgian Wine, Jimin Liu. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and representatives of association of “Georgian Wine” and “Kakheti Wine Guild”.

As the Deputy Minister stated, the memorandum mentioned above is one more step forward to intensifying Georgian wine popularity and publicity.

“We make diversification of the market as a result of sequential policy of Georgian Government. Georgian wine export development on China market keeps stability. China is one of the specific direction alongside with the counties of East Europe, USA and South Asia and we work successively and have good results. There will be a museum in the Centre of Georgian wine, the fair of Georgian wine culture will be held. Eventually, these activities will gain international kudos of Georgian wine and develop as a category of international importance” – stated Levan Davitashvili.

The head of National Wine Agency stated that opening Georgian wine Centre in such a big province, as Jiangxi with the population of almost 40 million people, has great importance. Nanchang is administration Centre of the province.

“This is one of the most large-scale wine-house, the consumers of Jiangxi can go and familiarize with Georgian wine culture, taste and buy Georgian wine. The province of Jiangxi with population of 40 million people is very important the Georgian wine export standpoint in China” – stated Giorgi Samanishvili.

The head of Nanchang Centre of wine underlined that demand on Georgian wine has increased within the last few years.

“The memorandum accommodates developing Georgian-Chinese relationships in the direction of cultural and economic field. In my opinion, Georgian wine is the best in the world and I am sure, that Chinese people will increasingly learn more about Georgian wine and Georgian culture, especially about Georgian red wines” – mentioned Jimin liu.

After the signature of the memorandum, the members of Chinese party delegation had an opportunity of tasting different styles of Georgian wine.

The building of Nanchang Centre of Georgian wine has already finished and the official opening is planned in the nearest future. The Centre is situated through  the area of 1600 m2  and includes degustation rooms, representations of Georgian wine companies, exposition halls, museum, enoteca, Georgian restaurants and etc. 

2015th year was especially important for Georgian wine export point in China– export growth has reached 122% compared to the 2014th year, totally 2 672 154 bottles (0.75l)  have been exported. China took the fourth place in the five of Georgian wine exporter countries after Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. The tendency of growth is also maintained this year – over 372 thousand bottles of wine have been exported in China in the first quarter of the current year, that is 2% higher than the similar data of the last year.
