2015 Data of wine and alcohol export
According to National Wine Agency data, 36 071 399 bottles of wine (0,75 l) have been exported Georgia to 46 countries in 2015, that is worth of 98 102 614 USD.
The steep increase of export on one of the strategic market – China, fixed in the beginning of the year lasted till the close of the year and reached 122%. 2 672 154 bottles have been exported to China in 12 months. China took the fourth place in the five Georgian wine exporter countries after Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
Export increases in number of countries: Poland - 3% (1 600 302 bottles), which is Georgian wine strategic, rapidly growing market, also Lithuania - 4% (658 666), Estonia 54% - (506 124), Netherlands - 58% (51 432), France - 190% (37 956), Denmark - 100% (34 840) and etc.
The growth is also notable on such strategic markets, as USA - 31% (248 075), Canada -48% (157 836), Japan - 5% (138 290), export has also increased in Kirgizstan - 79% (185 514), Israel - 48% (35 820), Korea - 37% (24 054) and etc.
The five of export countries is the following: Russia - 18 308 177, Kazakhstan - 5 195 949, Ukraine - 3 412 453, China - 2 672 154 and Poland - 1 600 302 .
Despite of the increase in number of countries, on account of well-known political-economic facts existent in region, in 2 flagship export countries – Russia (-51%) and Ukraine (-56%), steep decrease of export has reflected on total annual export index , which has reduced to 39% in comparison with the same period of 2014.
It’s remarkable, that total export index has reduced only in comparison with 2014 and 2013 years, when Russian market opened after several-year embargo and export reached it’s peak level in these countries. For example, only 23,3 bottles of wine were exported in 2012, in 2011 – 19,0 m. bottles, in 2010 – 14,8 m. bottles, in 2009 – 10,9 m. bottles, in 2008 – 12,2 m. bottles.
In total amount, the most of exported wine is aboriginal half-sweet red wine “Kindzmarauli” - 5 114 901 bottles, dry red wine “Mukuzani” - 1 827 248 bottles and dry white wine “Tsinandali” - 1 343 232 bottles. Half-sweet red wine “Akhasheni”- 651 348 bottles and half-sweet red wine “Khvanchkara”- 348 416 bottles are among the five of most requested aboriginal wines .
In addition, 7 266 755 bottles (0.5l) of brand have been exported Georgia to 21 countries, that reaches 18,6 m. USD.
8.9 million liters of brand alcohol has been exported Georgia to 7 countries, which is equivalent of 26.5 m. USD.
118 890 bottles (0,5 l) of “Chacha” has been exported in 21 countries last year, which is worth of 466.3 thousand USD.
In whole, wine, brand, “Chacha”, wine materials, brand on tap and brand alcohol export income exceeded 146,5mil USD in 2015.
