Awarding of the The Third International Qvevri Wine Competition

Awards ceremony of the winners of The Third International Qvevri Wine Competition was held in Tbilisi, where 29 Gold, 175 Silver and 76 Dronze Diplomas were awarded. The competition was held for the third time in Georgia with the organization of Association "Georgian Wine", Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and National Wine Agency.
The aim of the competition is to present the best Qvevri wines to the world, promote the production and consumption of Qvevri wine.
The guests of the event were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Khatia Tsilosani, Executive Director of Association "Georgian Wine" Tinatin Kezeli and Chairman of National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla.
"The Qvevri wine is a unique product, the promotion of which is a crucial priority for Georgia both in the international and local markets. Today, the export market of Georgian wine is more than 50 countries and we are glad that the quality of the Qvevri wine is increasing and more and more companies are starting its production. High quality wine is produced in Georgia, which will significantly improve the representation of Georgian wine in international markets "- said Khatia Tsilosani.
Competition was held on June 21-22 and 120 companies presented 320 samples of wine. The wines, which have received Gold Diplomas in the competition, will be presented at the "Georgian Wine Forum" in Boston, USA in the fall of the current year.
The jury was chaired by the honored Georgian winemaker Giorgi Dakishvili, the jury members were: head of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla, master of wine Lisa Granik (USA), also wine experts Magda Surguladze, Vladimer Kublashvili, Georg Binder (Germany), Vano Shiukashvili and Irma Chanturia.
