International Wine Exhibition WinExpo Georgia 2019 Was Opened in Tbilisi
The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili opened the 12th International Wine and Spiral Exhibition WinExpo Georgia 2019.
WinExpo Georgia is one of the largest exhibitions in the Caucasus region, where all the components required for the production of wine and alcohol are represented - viticulture and winemaking machinery, fertilizers, saplings, tare and packaging materials, accessories and a wide range of services. Up to 160 companies from 12 countries are participating in the exhibition (Georgia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Turkey), including more than 110 wine producers, both large, medium and small cellars.
International Exhibition is held on June 13-15, in the 11th pavilion of the exhibition center "Expo-Georgia". The official supporters of WinExpo Georgia are the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the National Wine Agency.
The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili thanked organizers of the exhibition, international wine experts, entrepreneurs and representatives of small cellars for participation in the exhibition and noted that such activities are especially important for popularization of Georgian wine.
"The scale of the exhibition, the number of participating companies and visitors is growing annually, which confirms the prestige of the exhibition and the increased interest in Georgian wine. Over the years, wine industry is developing rapidly in the country, new wine producer companies are developed, new technologies are implemented and high quality wine is produced. Export of Georgian wine is also increasing annually. Within the framework of the international exhibition, the wine competition was held, jury members are the world's most recognized wine experts and specialists, whose opinions and assessments are important for the promotion of Georgian wine popularization and awareness on the international market ", - noted Levan Davitashvili.
Participants of the exhibition were welcomed by Resan Qiqava, Director of ExpoGeorgia Exhibition Center and Chairman of National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla. The Chairman of the National Wine Agency emphasized the significance of the 11th International Wine Competition and the jury members. "according to one of the top-rated publications, the chairman of the competition, British master of wine Tim Atkins, has recently been listed in the ten influential people in the world of wine experts. This exhibition is important for winemaking industry, which is a business exhibition where wine and auxiliary materials are presented", noted Levan Mekhuzla.
On 13th of June, the 11th International Wine Competition Winners will be awarded, which was held within the frames of WinExpo Georgia 2019 on 11-12 June. Up to 300 samples of 81 wine producer companies were represented at the competition. Along with Georgian wine specialists, the jury included international professionals: Tim Atkins (Jury Chairman, UK), Kenichi Ohashi (Japan), Alistair Cooper (UK), Marcelo Retamol (Chile), Matthew Robert Wilkin (UK), Giorgi Dakishvili , Nika Aghdgomelashvili and Mikheil Meskhi.
This year, the Embassy of France and the organizers of the French Wine Exhibition "The Wine & Vine Innovation Cluster" Inno'Vin "(https://innovin.fr/index.php/en/) are participating in the exhibition for the first time. On their stand, French participants are representing wine accessories.
Within the frame of the exhibition, the event "Georgian Wine and UK Market" will be held, where Tatyana Mann, a British wine professional, will share her experience of British market specifics and wine import regulations to Georgian winemakers.
