The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili opened a conference "Women in the Georgian Wine Business" held at the National Wine Agency.
" Wine is a homeland of Georgia, an invitation card and a significant export product. The role of women in creating economic wealth and wellbeing of the country, as well as their contribution to the strengthening and enhancing of the wine sector priceless. Women's involvement in the development of winemaking and viticulture will bring new life.

I am glad, that the number of women in the wine business is annually increasing " - said Levan Davitashvili.

The invited guests got acquainted with the history of 22 successful ladies involved in the wine sector.
Maria Kinsch, wife of German Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Georgia Hubert Knirsch, and Country Director of German International Cooperation Society (GIZ), Carl F. Taestensen addressed the participants of the conference and underlined the importance of women's participation in the development of the wine industry.

 The conference aims at promoting further cooperation between Georgian and German winemakers. The presentation of the new book ‘A Gently Fermenting Revolution – Women in the Georgian Wine Business was held under the frame of the conference.

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili Deputy Ministers Yuri Nozadze, Khatia Tsilosani and representatives of the relevant department were attended the event, supported by the National Wine Agency and German International Cooperation Society (GIZ).
