Georgian Wine Producer Companies at “ProWein 2019”
27 Georgian wine-maker companies participate in annual international fair of wine and spirits – “ProWein 2019” in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Large-scale and prestigious fair - ProWein is the main event of the year for winemakers. This year the exhibition was visited by up to 60 thousand wine professionals and interested people from 133 countries, which is an opportunity to find new contacts and importers for companies. Up to 60 countries presented their production in the exhibition.
Georgian wines are introduced at the fair with the support of the National Wine Agency and association “Georgian Wine”. The exhibition was attended by the head of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla.
"ProWein is the largest exhibition in the wine industry. Georgia has been steadily participating in the fair since 2000 and the interest towards Georgian wine is increasing year by year. Due to the importance of the exhibition, interest from the side of Georgian producers has also increased and this year, 27 companies participate in it. This way, we develop the name of Georgian on the world map of wines. It is planned to expand the exhibition for 2021 and accordingly, we are planning to introduce Georgia in larger scales", stated Levan Mekhuzla.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Germany Elguja Khokrishvili attended the exhibition.
This year, exhibition "ProWein" has its 25th anniversary . Georgia has been participating in this exhibition since 2000. Initially, only 5 companies took part in the exhibition from Georgia.
Additionally, two Georgian wines won the highest awards at one of the world's most prestigious international wine competition Mundus Vini, and were awarded special prizes within the frames of “Prowein-2019” at Munudus Vini ceremony.
• "Vaziani Winery" wine “Rkatsiteli” 2016 was named as Best of Show Georgia White.
• "Chelty Winery" wine "Saperavi Qvevri Reserve 2015" was named as the Best of Show Georgia Red.
