On September 6-8, Georgia hosted the 3rd International wine Symposium
The goal was to spread the awareness of traditions and the uniqueness of “Qvevri” as a wine making vessels, Georgian history, grape and wine varieties, Georgian food and the culture.
Symposium was opened at the National Museum of Georgia, by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili and the Chairman of the National Wine Agency Giorgi Samanishvili.
Wine Symposium is a very important event for our country. The first symposium was held in Georgia in 2011. The result of the mentioned Symposium was to share National, Scientific and Cultural education and discussions about Qvevri which was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Georgia hosts the symposium for the third time – Davitashvili mentions.
Giorgi Samanishvili addressed to the participants of International Symposium and noted that the symposium will not cover only wine industry, but also the general history of Georgian wine, culture, wine-making methods and technologies.
On September 7-8 Symposium moved to Kakheti, Alaverdi Monastery, scientists, sommeliers and wine experts Georgia and around the world made speeches.
The guests of the 3rd International Symposium were different countries (US, Canada, UK, Italy) scientists, wine experts, masters, sommelier and journalists participated.
The symposium was held under the food and wine combinations event, the moderators, presenters and famous wine critics.
Symposium was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, “National Wine Agency”, “Georgian Wine Association” and the Alaverdi Metropolitan David\'s initiative.
